Aerial cinematography in feature films
Last weekend saw the release of the trailer for the 80 minute feature film The 12 written by Jessica Whitehill and produced and directed by James Whitehill. Their combined knowledge of cinematography meant that no shot was left to chance. The composition, movement and pace of every shot was considered in order to convey the story to the viewer in a particular way. Not least of all the aerial footage which was my pleasure to shoot with the awesome DJI Inspire 2!! The ability to shoot aerial footage in log at 24/25fps and 4K meant that once graded, it blended in seamlessly with the footage shot from the cameras used in the rest of the production.
